The Housing Choice Voucher Program, also known as Section 8, is part of Georgia's comprehensive housing program administered by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA).
The CDC eviction moratorium has been extended until March 31, 2021, meaning that no one should be evicted solely for non-payment of rent until that date. Visit georgialegalaid.org for more information. Some local communities are offering rental assistance with cares act coronavirus relief (or other) funds. Constituents can contact their local city or county government to see if funds are available for rental assistance. Constituents can also reach out to their local united way by dialing 2-1-1 for updated information on available rental assistance. While the eviction moratorium is in effect, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is unable to expend available rental assistance funding by regulation. When the moratorium is lifted, DCA will expend available funds through the State of Georgia Rental Assistance Program.
