In 2020, Georgia HPD received a federal grant to rebuild and enhance Georgia’s Natural, Archaeological, and Historic Resources Geographic Information System (GNAHRGIS). This project was completed this summer, and new tools are available for surveyors completing data entry in the Historic Resources module of GNAHRGIS. The consolidated rebuilt platform now allows users to download results of searches to Excel. Users can also query historic resources by survey attributes, as well as via the map.

(Atlanta November 2023) GICH Senior Year is a new, competitive program for GICH Certified Alumni Communities with a mission to holistically invest affordable housing funds into Georgia communities based on their strategic vision.  The goal for The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is to braid targeted investments in 1-2 targeted and competitively selected alumni communities. Those braided investments may include guaranteed awards or strong competitive advantage within LIHTC, CHIP, and CDBG.

ATLANTA ( October 3, 2023)The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announced applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) will be open from October 17, 2023, at midnight until October 20, 2023, at  11:59 p.m. Formerly known as Section 8, this HUD-funded program assists low-income families and individuals to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing. This is the first time since 2021 that the HCV wait list has been opened to serve additional eligible applicants.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) releases the 2024 Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) grant application for approximately $12.5 million in available grant awards.
