2019 Georgia Balance of State Point in Time Homeless Count

  • Basic Info

The 2019 Georgia Balance of State Point in Time (PIT) Count date is January 28, 2019.  The count begins at sundown on this date and continues through February 3, 2019.  All surveys administered will determine where the participant was sleeping on the night on January 28, 2019.

The PIT Count will be conducted in two distinct parts, the unsheltered count and the sheltered count.  The unsheltered count will be conducted by partner agencies counting local homeless populations in targeted counties during the timeframe above.  This will involve surveying homeless individuals and families both on the street and in places where they may access services.  The number of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness will be predicted using a statistical model provided by a research institition for counties where an unshetlered count is not conducted, or if data from an unsheltered count is not useable.  The sheltered count will be conducted by DCA reaching out to homeless services programs in the Balance of State Continuum of Care to enumerate homeless individuals and families that were sleeping in emergency shelter and transitional housing programs on the night of the count.

Surveys for the 2019 PIT Count will be conducted using the Counting Us app provided by Simtech Solutions.  The app may be downloaded in Google Play and the Apple App Store.  An online interface for entering surveys is also available at www.Counting.Us.
