January 15, 2021, was the state's 36th Annual Celebration of Service honoring the life, leadership, and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event, organized by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council, featured the unveiling of four awards, including the introduction of the John Robert Lewis Lifetime Achievement Award.
The crowd was smaller in accordance with social distancing measures, but those in attendance were as impassioned as ever. Streamed live over YouTube straight from the state capitol in downtown Atlanta, guests were treated to three performances from award-winning singer and songwriter Kelly Goodson. Speakers ranged from elected officials to servant leaders who spent decades volunteering at the forefront of causes closest to them.
