The City of Sylvester recently completed the renovation of its City Hall after more than a year of construction. The building was formerly the Sylvester Banking Company and is more than 100 years old. Today, it houses all city services and is the new City Hall. The City’s administrative services and manager’s office and meeting spaces will also be housed there.
Some of the original features, such as marble floors and vaults, are still intact. City leaders wanted to preserve the historic integrity of the building and yet make it energy efficient.
The total cost of the project was approximately $1.3 million and was funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Transportation Enhancement Funds and General Funds from the City of Sylvester. This project was a major undertaking for the City and they are reaping the results with the addition of this beautiful building in the Central Business District of downtown.
