Resource Teams Program Description | Downloads & Related Links | Contact Information Resource Teams help Georgia’s communities focus on building a climate of success for families and business. Basing our work on the Department’s Quality Community Objectives (QCO), our staff can help your local government work toward long-term community vitality and economic health through our Resource Teams. We will analyze and address specific issues within your community and provide a set of written recommendations based on our findings. Resource Team assistance involves the following:
To apply for resource team assistance, complete and submit the application available at the link below: Resource Team Application Available Here Option I: Vision Development (NOTE: available fall 2011) This option provides assistance to the community in creating, or updating, their Community Vision, a key component of the Basic Local Plan. This vision should be supported by the community and long-term in nature, depicting the place the community is working to become. Our team will help develop a vision that reflects the community’s desires for the future and incorporates the Quality Community Objectives. The resource team will identify initial steps a community may choose to take to achieve the vision they’ve embraced.
Option II: QCO Implementation This Resource Team option begins with a review of the existing Basic Local Plan and the community’s most recent QCO analysis. Team members will evaluate community resources and preferences and make recommendations for the best opportunities to achieve selected Quality Community Objectives. After community leaders chose which QCO to pursue, the team will help the community select strategies to address the chosen opportunities. Most of these strategies will be based on identified Best Practices which support the Quality Community Objectives.
Option III: Areas Requiring Special Attention (ARSA) The community identifies Areas Requiring Special Attention in its Basic Local Plan as those areas needing specific strategies for managing future development. The team will assess these areas and make recommendations for improving current conditions as well as promoting long-term viability. Option IV: Code Clinic This Resource Team includes a review of the local land development regulations for consistency with both the community’s Basic Local Plan and the Quality Community Objectives. The team will assist the local government with updating its development codes by providing a listing of suggested changes to existing development regulations and, when available, model codes that can be adapted to serve community needs.
